In this society, individuals possess a secondary trait known as "Dom" or "Sub," where Doms naturally seek to dominate and Subs are inclined to submit. These traits typically emerge during early adolescence, but Chigusa's Sub trait manifests in college. While unwell, Chigusa is helped by Ruji, a senior neighbor, and experiences her first submissive reaction toward him, possibly identifying him as her Dom.
