A young Japanese woman named Yumi works as an office employee during the day and as a prostitute at night to support herself. She also cares for a crocodile she keeps in her apartment. While office work is common for women her age in Japan, her other job and unusual pet set her apart. Though few people live like Yumi, many can relate to her in some way. Young women, in particular, may see themselves in her attachment to her crocodile and her free-spirited nature.
