A photographer, after suddenly developing lupus and losing vision in one eye, feels compelled to return to a South Pacific island that was pivotal in his career. Uncertain about his future, he seeks out a man he met there years earlier, who is now a medical researcher in Southern California, hoping to persuade him to join his trip.
