A boy who lives in the alleys of a town is joined by a mysterious girl after expressing a desire to be together despite unhappiness. They live together in the alleys, eventually bringing in other residents. The people in the alleys each have their own inner burdens, and their lives involve conflict, love, and other emotions. The story portrays a relaxed, unhurried existence among them.
