Boris Jineman escapes his home during a family conflict, accompanied only by his brother and the family's prized sword, Winterer. After his brother dies protecting him, the 12-year-old is left alone to guard the sword, which many seek to claim. As he faces those who pursue Winterer, Boris becomes increasingly emotionally distant. The story follows his efforts to survive in a hostile world, questioning whether he can endure the hardships ahead.
