A covert military initiative in the 20th century transmits messages into space in an effort to communicate with extraterrestrial life. A technologically advanced alien species, facing imminent collapse, detects the transmission and prepares to attack Earth. As the threat becomes known, factions emerge on Earth with differing strategies: some advocate for aiding the aliens in replacing what they see as a flawed society, while others seek to resist the impending invasion.
