A spinoff of the Muv-Luv series, this light novel is set in Cold War Europe in 1983, eighteen years prior to Muv-Luv Alternative. Theodor, an East German military pilot with a family history of political disgrace, is assigned to the 666th Company, known as the Schwarzesmarken. This unit prioritizes mission success over the safety of its own. There, Theodor encounters Irisdina, a commander marked by coldness and strategy, and Katia, who holds more idealistic views. As he interacts with them, he begins questioning his own past and beliefs.
