Seishun Shounen Magazine 1978-1983

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Weekly Shounen Magazine, Makoto Kobayashi recounts his early career at the publication. After moving from Niigata to Tokyo at 19 to pursue manga, he submitted a work to the magazine's rookie contest and won the top prize of 1 million yen. He then launched his first successful series, Ichi Ni no Sanshiro. The manga details the highs and lows of his early serialization, along with the strong friendships he formed with Shinji Ono and Natsuki Oowada. The work was nominated for the 2009 Manga Taisho Award.
