A thousand-year-old fox resides in the tomb of King Yan Zhao of Zhou during China's Jin dynasty. This fox, named Guangtian, seeks out the learned scholar Zhang Hua to test his intelligence against that of humans. The story blends elements of the supernatural with history in a lighthearted and unusual way.
