Sennen ni Hitotsu no Koi

A man named Hakua is sent into the mountains to kill a tiger that has been attacking villages. The tiger, believing him to be a girl, takes Hakua into the mountains as a mate. Over time, a bond forms as Hakua helps the tiger understand emotions. Later, Hakua returns to the village, and the tiger accompanies him, encountering difficulties in the human world. Separately, a slave merchant named Kouhaku takes a boy named Enji to sell him, though Enji is indifferent to the situation. In another story, a doctor's apprentice named Suiki helps a wounded and ill-tempered samurai named Genka. Lastly, an artist named Sekka saves a boy named Joka, who becomes his model.
