Fujinami Kou, a second-year high school student, is struggling with the grief of losing his boyfriend, an upperclassman, in a car accident a year earlier. On the anniversary of the death, Kou feels too upset to attend school. Kakitsubata Saki, a first-year student, notices Kou and offers assistance, thinking he is unwell. When Kou reacts strongly to Saki's appearance, mentioning that he looks like "the person I used to go out with," Saki becomes curious and decides to uncover the reasons behind Kou's sadness and withdrawal.
