Shakai Keiyakuron

During the 18th century in Europe, a time marked by hardship and the dominance of absolute monarchies, a philosopher questioned the most legitimate and socially just form of government. Through an examination of human nature and relationships, Rousseau presented in his work a model for social organization and a new perspective. His ideas contributed to the intellectual foundation of liberal movements that, beginning with the French Revolution, influenced significant changes across Europe.
