In a world where humans and mythical beings live together, a zombie named Shurika enrolls at a boarding school that trains students to fight "kyoujuu," creatures that endanger all species. During the three-year program, students are required to live in pairs with a partner from a different race. Shurika is assigned to live with Marie, a human paladin who seems to have a special connection with her. However, Marie's attachment to Shurika appears unusually intense.
