In a town where creatures called "shima-shima" coexist with humans, the Oobaya family safeguards the Shima-shima deities residing on Shima-shima mountain while also selling tools used by the Shima-shima. Tsugio, the younger son of the Oobaya, harbors a strong dislike for the Shima-shima, yet they appear drawn to him despite his feelings.
