Kaminato Hare is a middle school student who struggles to comprehend emotions, both her own and those of others. After being sent to live in an unoccupied house on a remote island by her parents, she encounters several unusual yet somewhat friendly individuals. Her cousin, Akasaki Maayu, is difficult for her to understand. She also meets Ukita Sakuya and Nako Kairi, two close friends who enter her home searching for a ghost. They conclude that Hare should join them, recognizing her talent for solving mysteries. Though Hare is accustomed to solitude, her new life in the countryside is gradually drawing more people into her world.
