A group of powerful entities called "spes" were created to support humanity, but as people began to misuse and fear them, spes became outcasts. Ryu Shin, a fast-food employee, encounters a spes child stealing a cheeseburger. Initially prejudiced, Shin is moved by the child's vulnerability and lack of abilities, taking him in and calling him Cheese. He encourages Cheese to be a normal child without pressure. However, when a spes harasses Shin, Cheese resolves to gain strength to defend him.
