Sobakasu no Shounen

Freckles is a story about hardship and perseverance in a remote part of Indiana. After enduring a difficult childhood in an orphanage and facing mistreatment due to his red hair, speech, and physical disability, Freckles leaves Chicago as an adult and travels to the Limberlost Swamp. He finds employment with the Grand Rapids lumber company and earns the confidence of a seasoned woodsman named McLean. His role involves patrolling the forest to prevent theft, and he becomes known for his diligence and effectiveness. After sustaining serious injuries in a fight, Freckles meets a young girl during his recovery, experiencing genuine affection for the first time in his life.
