A comic writer begins eliminating key characters and ends the story unsatisfyingly, leading the protagonist to sell all his copies. He then receives a message from the author stating that characters must strive to survive or be removed from the story. After agreeing to participate, the protagonist awakens within the comic as Background Villain #3. The narrative explores whether he can survive and reach the story's conclusion.
