A high school student named Takeru Kisaragi possesses unique physical abilities resulting from a past accident. Despite these, he lives a largely unchanged life in modern society, though he feels some discomfort. One day, a mysterious light fills a warehouse at his home, and suddenly he finds himself in a world where magic is enhanced through the use of "swords." There, he meets a girl with black hair and black eyes who introduces herself as Sakuya. He learns he is now in Ether Float, the world’s only floating city located above 15,000 meters. Students from various nations have gathered at the Sealed Sword Academy, a school where extraordinary magical battles take place.
