In 2019, a verified signal from an extraterrestrial source instructed humanity to gather on Mars by 2035. This led to the formation of ST&RS, a global space agency. Progress accelerated with a return to the moon in 2022 and the construction of multiple orbital stations. The Space Academy was established to train future ST&RS personnel. Shirafune Maho, who first spoke the word "Mars" on the day the message was received, has been deeply interested in space ever since. He joins his childhood friend Hoshihara Meguru and classmate Amachi Wataru in applying to the academy, where only one percent of candidates are accepted.
