Stampede: Minovsky Hakase Monogatari

A ship is attacked by Zeon remnants in the aftermath of the One Year War. A crew member urges a professor to evacuate via shuttle before a Zaku II opens fire on his previous location. The professor, Trenov Y. Minovsky, was born near Chernobyl in 1983 and witnessed the disaster at age three. After moving to America in 1999, he pursued research on "Minovsky Physics," a concept initially dismissed as unrealistic. A friend secured sponsorship from Anaheim Electronics, but Minovsky's theories were later discredited at a conference. Accused of fraud, he was expelled from the scientific community. Later, he worked with Zeon Zum Deikun, developing a nuclear fusion generator for a colony's artificial sun and founding the Minovsky Physics Society. His growing focus on weapons led to his wife leaving him. After receiving an award following Deikun's death, he rejected it in front of the Zabi family. Returning to Chernobyl, he reflects on his legacy, acknowledging both his role in destruction and his possible defeat.
