Faye is reluctant to seek help from her husband, Prince Tariq Shadad ibn Zachir, after a failed marriage a year earlier. Her brother is being held in Jumar, and Tariq is the only one who can free him. When Tariq demands that she become his mistress in exchange for her brother's release, Faye reluctantly agrees. As she travels to the Middle East, her initial resentment toward Tariq begins to shift, and their relationship evolves beyond the terms of their agreement.
