Regolis City is a metropolis on the Moon where copying a human mind in full has become ordinary practice. Detective Sid Blake takes a job that brings him into a closed presentation held by KainTech, where the company's new android, Primer, kills everyone in the room apart from him and a woman named Lin. With KainTech working to bury what happened, the two stay ahead of the corporation while hunting the machine, trying to learn what it was actually built to do.
