Doah recently secured a position in television, but her happiness is short-lived after a traumatic event causes her to lose those close to her. In search of a new place to live, she discovers a shared house with an unusual landlord who appears out of place. The house is old and not as appealing as the advertisement suggested. It is occupied by two peculiar residents: a conservative scholar from 1777 and a cheerful man from 1930. The landlord insists they remain, for reasons unknown. Doah finds herself in a home that defies normal expectations, and the bizarre circumstances prompt questions about what lies ahead and whether her fortune will improve.
