A 114-page volume included with the special edition of the fifth manga volume features special illustrations, comics, and two mini-novels. One of the mini-novels is written by Narita Ryogho, known for Baccano! and Durarara!!. In the story, Misaka Mikoto confronts Sogiita Gunha, a Level 5 ranked seventh in Academy City. Their unexpected demonstration of abilities is traced back to a primary school student named Kihara Nayuta.
