Light novel side-story compilation for the Toaru Majutsu no Index franchise. Each Gaiten Shoku volume physically reprints short stories that had previously been distributed only through DVD and Blu-ray limited editions, issues of Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh and other scattered releases. The collected pieces include the Kanzaki Kaori arc, the Necessarius Special Admission Test, Road to Endymion, the A Certain Scientific Railgun SS and SS2 short novels, Cold Game, Agnese's Magic Side Work Experience, Biohacker, Stativarius, and a newly written episode pairing Misaka Mikoto with Shokuhou Misaki. Four volumes have been published between June 2020 and February 2025, serving as a consolidated archive of the franchise's previously hard-to-obtain bonus fiction.
