A princess resides in isolation at the summit of a small tower, and a young man aspires to become the palace artist. A royal proclamation states that whoever successfully paints the "Locked-up Maiden" will be granted the position. Confident in his chances, the young man is undeterred by the princess's refusal to descend and persists in his efforts.
