Bromei is cast out by his town after being blamed for violent crimes. The priest attributes his actions to bad luck, his family rejects him, and the townspeople label him a demon. He is sent to the Isle of Trees, where he hopes to escape his past. There, he encounters Fiance, a mysterious army doctor, and the two begin to build a new life together.
