A lighthouse keeper named Evan lives alone on Claire Island until a boat drifts in with a sick seagull chick. After tending to it overnight, the chick disappears, replaced by a winged boy Evan calls René. While René appears human, he is clearly not. His presence starts to bring unusual changes to Evan.
