Yoshitaka is fixated on his friend Shigeru and the warmth of his smile. Shigeru, however, is focused on a woman who treats him inconsistently, offering no real commitment or reciprocity. Feeling overlooked and resentful, Yoshitaka concludes that if he cannot have what he wants, then he no longer needs Shigeru's smile.
