·WANTED!
A bounty hunter named Wild Joe pursues Gill Bastar, a criminal whose large bounty stems from numerous self-defense killings. The narrative highlights a paradox in which Gill's need for protection leads to further violence. Created by Eiichiro Oda during his final year of high school in 1992, the one-shot manga was submitted under the name Tsuki Himizu Kikondo to the 44th Tezuka Awards, where it won Second Class. The prize included ¥500,000 and marked Oda's professional debut. As was customary, the work was compiled with other award winners in the Mezase Mangaka anthology, released in early 1993. Later, after Oda's rise to fame with One Piece, the manga was reprinted in the September 1998 issue of Akamaru Jump and included in a collection of his early one-shots.
