Sotomura is seen as a tough delinquent at her school, causing others to fear her and spread negative rumors. In reality, she is misunderstood. Her stern expressions are not intentional; she simply does not know how to smile. The harsh things she says are due to her difficulty in expressing emotions or being taken out of context. Her rough appearance comes from her belief that feminine styles do not suit her. Hoping to change this image, she makes efforts to do so, but these attempts only seem to reinforce the existing perception of her.
