A woman awakens after a tragedy to find herself reborn as Aurora, a character from a novel she once read. She is soon sent to marry the Duke of Ettica, a man known for his reckless and unscrupulous behavior. The duke is openly crude and makes inappropriate requests, such as asking to be punched. His behavior is both unprincipled and suggestive. Aurora is left questioning the nature of her new situation. Is this the beginning of a naive romantic entanglement, or something more complex? The story includes an additional chapter.
