Ao Hakushun, a high school student with an unusual sensitivity to the supernatural, meets Natsume Yong, who eagerly invites her to assist in gathering ghost stories. Together, they venture out at night to explore a reportedly haunted shrine. During their investigation, Natsume points out a stack of straw dolls, prompting Ao to express concern over his lack of caution.
