An elderly writer named Rintaro Waga, who has lived in solitude, is visited by a boy claiming to be his deceased childhood friend Shiyou. Despite his uncertainty about the boy's true identity, Rintaro chooses to spend time with him. The two consider whether they can finally keep a promise they made to each other forty years earlier.
