Watashi wa Gegege - Shinpika Mizuki Shigeru Den
I am Gegege - The mysterious story of Mizuki Shigeru·私はゲゲゲ - 神秘家水木しげる伝
Mizuki Shigeru recounts his life in a manga autobiography written and published near his 85th birthday. The story is divided into four parts. The first covers his childhood in Sakaiminato, Tottori. The second follows his conscription into the Japanese Army at 20, where he was stationed in Rabaul, eastern Papua New Guinea. The third part describes his return to Japan after losing his left arm in an explosion, his marriage, and his efforts to support himself through drawing and selling comics. The final section takes place in the present, detailing his success with comic series such as *Gegege no Kitaro*, his improved living conditions, becoming a father and grandfather, and a recent incident involving vandalism of statues along the Mizuki Shigeru Road, including the theft of a bronze Kitaro statue.
