Prince Lochlan of the Routen Kingdom tells his fiancée April Campbell he hopes to win her heart after returning from war, but he does not come back. April is left emotionally shattered and in poor circumstances under the care of her uncle and his mistress. She longs for freedom and for Lochlan to return.
