White Sugar Garden, Black Salt Cage

This one-shot was published in Gangan JOKER the year prior to the start of Happy Sugar Life's serialization. It received a strong response and is considered the precursor to that series. The interactions between Shio and Satou, as well as the supporting characters, differ somewhat from their later portrayals. The atmosphere of this story also varies slightly from the serialized version, presenting a distinct tone. It is intended as a separate narrative to be enjoyed as an alternate take from a parallel world.
