Botan, a middle schooler, has been haunted by evil spirits she began seeing after the death of her pet cat. Her father has cycled through various exorcists, but her situation keeps deteriorating. As Botan sinks into despair, a new exorcist arrives at her father's request — Kokume, a girl her own age. Unusually for the role, Kokume cannot see spirits herself.
