Witchblade Takeru

Takeru is a typical Japanese high school girl raised in a Buddhist convent by nuns. She suffers from recurring nightmares involving the Witchblade, a mystical gauntlet known as Oni no te. The convent secretly holds the Witchblade in a sealed box, and Takeru’s family has an unexplained link to the artifact and Oni folklore, which accounts for her strong pull toward it. Her life changes when she unexpectedly becomes the Witchblade’s new bearer. The series began in March 2006 in Champion Red magazine, published by Akita Shoten. It is written by Yasuko Kobayashi and illustrated by Kazasa Sumita, whose work features an erotic aesthetic. The manga is based on the American comic book series by Marc Silvestri and David Wohl.
