Yamagishi Ryouko Special Selection

A curated multi-volume retrospective of Yamagishi Ryouko's shorter works, gathering tales rooted in folklore, mythology and the supernatural alongside more introspective character pieces. Across sixteen volumes, the collection moves between Japanese legend (Yaobikuni, Yamato Takeru, Konohana no Sakuya-hime, Hiruko, Tsukuyomi), classical world mythology (Harpy, Sphinx, Syrinx Pan, Daphne, Phaëton, Tartaros, Seraphim) and Western fairy tale figures such as Rapunzel, Tinkerbell and the Happy Prince. Recurring threads include haunted dolls, shrines and forbidden places, the changing roles of women across eras, and the thin boundary between dream and waking life. Longer cycles such as Youseiou and Ao no Jidai sit alongside dozens of standalone stories, giving an overview of the author's decades-long exploration of myth, memory and the uncanny.
