Yasuji Tokyo
YASUJI東京
Yasuji Inoue was a landscape painter born in Asakusa during the first year of the Genji era. At fourteen, he met Kiyochika Kobayashi and later passed away in the 22nd year of the Meiji era at twenty-five. The work explores what Yasuji observed in Tokyo, portraying a quiet world centered on an enigmatic relationship between teacher and student. It reflects the scenery witnessed by Inoue, a painter from the perinatal era, as it moves between depictions of Tokyo in the Meiji and Showa periods.
