Dragons influence life in Kaya, where some kill them for a living while others command them through rituals. Seur-Chong is a hunter suffering from the Dragon's Curse, which grants him great strength but also shortens his life. He works as a mercenary, motivated primarily by money. As he gets drawn into the conflicts of those who employ hunters, he begins to fight for a cause beyond his usual interests. If fortune favors him, he may also gain a cure for his condition and a financial reward.
