Kyu has shown little interest in anything beyond his own desires, especially archery, a hobby once shared by his late father and Mr. Hideshima, a neighbor and former friend of his father. After witnessing Mr. Hideshima shoot an arrow for the first time, Kyu becomes determined to learn the craft. Mr. Hideshima's motivations for teaching him, however, remain unclear.
