In 2019, the Japanese government intensifies its censorship of mass media, with the Tokyo Olympics prompting stricter regulations. Content considered obscene becomes harder to publish, including in manga. Amid these restrictions, manga artist Hibino Mikio is given the chance to release his horror series "Dark Walker," which features a disease causing people to become cannibals at night. As he navigates the release of his work, Mikio experiences the challenges faced by the manga industry under growing pressure from government control over expression.
