A young woman is selected by a sacred weapon and prepares to embark on a quest to vanquish a great evil, causing excitement in the city. However, a hidden prophecy warns that she will die before reaching her final destination. To prevent this outcome, a temple agent named Rhuys is sent to alter the course of events and conceal the prophecy. The task requires a partner, so Rhuys enlists the aid of Araignée, a renowned adventurer known for her skills and willingness to assist—for the right compensation. The arrangement proves complicated, as Rhuys soon discovers the cost may involve more than just money.
