In 2000, she changed her pen name from Tamaki Shin to Yasay Kemonogi. She lived in Australia from 1997 to 2003, before moving back to Japan.
Regarding the characters in her works, she uses the "star system": the same character can appear in multiple series with different names, personalities, and settings, but retaining the same physical appearance, as if they were actors playing different roles.
