Ayakashi

A 2005 visual novel forms the basis of this story, which involves a parasitic life force known as Ayakashi that grants its host superhuman abilities at the cost of their life force. A student named Kusaka Yuu, who has lost his will to live after the death of a childhood friend, encounters a girl named Yoake Eim. Her arrival changes his life, as he becomes targeted by Ayakashi and their hosts. Yuu's latent power emerges, leading to an ongoing conflict.
