On August 10, 2010, the Holy Empire of Britannia launched an invasion targeting Japan, swiftly conquering it within a month using advanced Knightmare Frames. The country was renamed Area 11, and its people became known as Elevens, stripped of their rights and dignity. Britannian nobles reside in comfort while the local population struggles. Resistance groups emerge to fight for Japan's independence. Lelouch, a Britannian prince in disguise, is caught in the conflict. After meeting a girl named C.C., he acquires the Geass, a power allowing him to command others. With this ability, he seeks to dismantle Britannia from within.
