Haikara-san ga Tooru: Tokyo Dai Roman

A sequel to an earlier adaptation, this film continues the story of Benio Hanamura, a woman in early 20th-century Japan who challenges traditional gender roles by rejecting the expectation that women should focus solely on domestic life. Benio’s progressive views face a challenge when Lieutenant Shinobu Ijuin, who has supported her independence, disappears during military service. He later returns to Japan but suffers from amnesia and no longer remembers who he is. The film follows Benio’s struggle to rekindle their connection before she is forced into another marriage.
